The 11th edition of the summer school on the Romanian language will take place between the 12th of August - the 23rd of August 2024 in Sibiu.

Experience the excitement of learning Romanian in the beautiful city of Sibiu, where history, culture, and modernity come together. Formerly the center of the Transylvanian Saxons, the old city of Sibiu was ranked as "Europe's 8th most idyllic place to live" by Forbes and was designated a European Capital of Culture for the year 2007, in tandem with Luxembourg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sibiu).

Our Summer School is designed for language students of all levels, offering intensive Romanian courses that will help you reach your language goals faster.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, our experienced teachers will help you develop your skills in a supportive and enjoyable learning environment. Our courses are designed to be communicative, so you will have plenty of opportunities to practice your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, and to immerse yourself in the Romanian language and culture.

Sibiu is a fascinating city, known for its medieval architecture, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant student life. You will have the opportunity to explore the city's historic center, visit its many museums and cultural landmarks, and sample its delicious cuisine. Our Summer School is also a great opportunity to meet new people from all over the world, as our classes are international and students come from a variety of different countries.

The program includes morning activities (30 hours of class courses) and afternoon activities (Q&A sessions, 4 hours of conversation lessons, 1 museum visit, 2 film screenings, guided tour of Sibiu city center, the tour of communism, lecture on Romanian history, 2 social parties, 2 concerts).

Anyone that is at least 18 years old can participate in the program.

Our summer school program is designed to provide students with a fun, dynamic, and educational experience that combines language learning with cultural activities, excursions, and outdoor activities. The program is taught by experienced and highly qualified teachers, who use an engaging and communicative approach to help students improve their Romanian language skills. Classroom activities are focused on real-life situations and include role-playing, conversation, discussions, vocabulary, and grammar exercises.

In this course, we cover the lessons from the “Learn Romanian” textbooks (manual, exercise book, and audio files), written by Dr. Mona Moldoveanu Pologea.

At the end of the course, the students will have a test and will receive a certificate proving their level of Romanian.

During the summer school program, students will have the opportunity to:

• Study the Romanian language in small, interactive classes with experienced teachers.

• Participate in a range of cultural activities, excursions, and outdoor activities, including visits to local museums, historical sites, and cultural events.

• Experience life in the vibrant city of Sibiu, one of the most beautiful cities in Romania.

• Meet other students from around the world and make new friends while learning the Romanian language.

• Improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Romanian.

The summer school program is open to students of all ages and levels of proficiency. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, our program is designed to help you achieve your language learning goals.

Morning activities: Language courses

The morning language program includes 30 hours of Romanian language for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Students will be divided into 4 groups (A1, A2, B1, B2), according to their level of Romanian.

With an assessment test sent via e-mail, each student will be evaluated and placed in the correct group.

Class course schedule: 3 hours/day, from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

Afternoon and weekend activities

- 4 conversation sessions: 1 hour/session

- 1 Q&A session

- 1 lectures on Romanian history (English – Romanian): 2 hours

- guided tour of Sibiu city center (English-speaking guide): 2 hours

- tour of communism in Sibiu (English-speaking guide): 2 hours

- 2 film screenings: 2x2 hours

- 2 social parties

- 1 museum visit (English-speaking guide)

- 2 concerts

Price: 650 euros -» full summer school program (language courses, afternoon & weekend activities)

The fees contain VAT and can be paid in various ways:

(1) credit card (payment link in lei or euro, automatic exchange for any other currency)

(2) bank transfer in euro or lei

The applicants agree to pay all commissions, fees, charges, or expenses related to the transfer of money.

Withdrawal policy

If you inform the ROLANG team about your withdrawal within 2 (two) months before the course commencement date, we will be able to refund you the course fee (or the advance payment), without an administrative charge of 20%.

If you inform the ROLANG team within 1 (one) week before the course commencement date, we will refund you the course fee (or the advance payment made), without an administrative charge of 40%.

No credits are reimbursed after the course starts.
