Do I need a visa?
EU citizens do not need a visa in order to enter Romania. If you are
not an EU citizen, check visa and
work permit regulations with the Romanian embassy in your country.
What is the local currency? The local currency is LEU (plural LEI). The currency code name is RON. Although Romania is part of the EU, it hasn't adopted the euro currency. At the moment the exchange rate is 1 EUR = 4.4642 RON. Exchange at the airport just a small amount of money necessary to pay for the bus and the train. The exchange rate at the airport is not convenient.
Who can participate?
Anyone that is at least 18 years old.
How do I get to Sibiu?
- By plane to Sibiu International Airport
The international airport of Sibiu is located on
the European road DN1, at 6 km west from the historical center of the
city. Some major companies (Lufthansa, Tarom, Austrian Airlines) and
some low-cost companies (Blue Air, Carpatair) operate flights to this
airport.
How to get Sibiu city center from Sibiu airport?
From and to Sibiu International Airport to Sibiu
city center there is the direct bus 11. Buy a ticket from the bus
office and get down to the bus station "Banatului" (the
University area). The ticket costs 1,5 lei (0,35 euros), make sure
you have it and punch it at the bus.
You can get a taxi in front of the new terminal
parking area.
- By train to Sibiu railway station
Sibiu railway station (in Romanian: "Gara CFR
Sibiu") is located close to the historical center of the city, on
“1 Decembrie 1918” Square no.6.
By plane to the Airports in Bucharest
If your plane lands on Henri Coandă airport (OTP) you must go to "Gara de NORD" Bucharest railway train station.
In order to get to the railway train
station ("Gara de Nord", Bucharest), you can take the bus "780" from Henri Coandă
International
Airport (OTP). You have to go to the ground floor in order to get into the bus station. You can only buy a round-trip ticket (2 trips) for 7 lei. The bus trip
takes around 40-50
minutes.
