The Present Indicative of the verbs in "ea" (2nd conjugation)

The verbs with the infinitive ending in „-ea” are considered verbs of the 2nd conjugation.

Some models conjugation are bellow:

A avea (engl. to have), a tăcea (engl. to be silent), a vedea (engl. to see), a bea (engl. to drink)

A avea

A tăcea

Eu tac

Tu ai

El / ea tace

Noi avem

Noi tăcem

Voi aveți

Voi tăci

Ei /ele au

Tu vezi

El / ea vede

El / ea bea

Noi vedem

Noi bem

Voi vedeți

Voi beți

Ei /ele văd

Ei / ele beau

As we can see from the above examples, the root verbs have a lot of irregular forms. Nevertheless, we can formulate some rules: at the root verb we have to add some endings. For the verbs from the 2nd group, the endings for most of the verbs are, respectively, as follows: Ø, -i, -e, -em, -eți,Ø. The exception is the verb “to drink” (a bea), where the ending is “u” in the 1st person singular.

For most verbs, the 1st person in the singular is homonym with the 3rd person in the plural:

eu văd (I see) = ei văd (they see)

eu beau (I drink) = ei beau (they drink)

The negative form

In order to obtain the negative form, we will add the particle “nu” in front of the verbs.

A vedea

A bea

Eu nu văd (I don't see)

Eu nu beau (I don't drink)

Tu nu vezi(you don't see)

Tu nu bei (you don't drink)

El / ea nu vede (he / she doesn't see)

El / ea nu bea (he / she doesn't drink)

Noi nu vedem (we don't see)

Noi nu bem (we don't drink)

Voi nu vedeți (you don't see)

Voi nu beți (you don't drink)

Ei /ele nu văd (they don't see)

Ei / ele nu beau (they don't drink)
